King's Award Ceremony - 2nd June 2024
On Sunday, 2nd June, The Kings award ceremony took place at the Eco Power stadium. Firefly was the Recipient of the King's Award for Voluntary Service. This is the first time in Firefly's history that so many members of the Firefly family came together under one roof to celebrate this great achievement. I thank everyone in attendance and hope you all enjoyed the day. The sun was out in force and added to the occasion to top it all.

Chewy and Paul would like to give a massive thank you to Toni Welsh for all your support and fundraising to Firefly. You first undertook 12 months no alcohol and then decided to arrange a quiz night at the Red Bear in Thorne with Pie and peas which was a great success. We must also thank everyone that supported Toni, Rachel Perry - Red Bear landlady, Kerry Kerrigan and Veronica Welsh for providing the pie and peas, Megan Welsh for selling football cards and raffle tickets. The Quiz night raised a staggering £1,416.00 with the total being made up from online donations to a fantastic £2,117.00. Toni did tell me that she had a drink on New years eve and ended up dancing on tables , she has since decided to carry on with no alcohol !!If you ever meet her she has the most infectious laugh that will put a smile on your face. Thank you for the quiz!
£436 Was the final total raised at the Indus Restaurant with a brain teasing quiz organised by Carole Holdridge of Wild Orange. The different curries accompanied with the best Onion Bargie I've ever tasted and a quiz were ingredients for a brilliant evening. Both Chewy and Paul can't thank you enough Carole, and hope you can arrange something again soon. My mouth is watering at the just the thought.

Chewy and Paul would like to give a huge thanks to the Scawthorpe ladies for organising a Firefly Fundraiser which had The Dreams Drag Duo performing at West End Sports and Social Club on the run up to Christmas. The event was sold out and with the help of the following ladies raised a staggering £1,377.62 from ticket sales, raffle, Bingo and football cards. Colette Stephenson, Debbie Margetts, Tina Herrett, Dawn Conner and Sarah Mellor we cant thank you enough. Ladies Night at the Yorkshire Ice Cream Farm
Chewy and Paul would like to thank Rebecca Storey of Sunnybank's Yorkshire Ice Cream Farm for holding a ladies night with a fashion show supported by Imelda's Boutique, a huge raffle, stalls in the calf shed and the wonderful Bowkers providing the music. The event raised a massive £3,080.00 which was split 50/50 with Firefly and Aurora. Your continued support to Firefly is very humbling and we are so grateful for your superb support.

Here on the left Neil Fisher the Safety Event organiser chose Firefly along with his colleagues to receive this generous donation. The winning team was BURY, unfortunately the lucky winner had already left the event. Many thanks guys. BRAZILLIANT !!!!!
Plough Inn
Back in August a Charity Fun Day was organised by Jean and Keith Bridges, locals and staff of the Victoria Social Club and Plough Inn. Andy Bennett and Adam Clark organised a Football Match with players contributing £50 each and later back at the club a Raffle was in full swing championed by Jo Kilner, with a Tombola run by the lovely Margaret Tarren, a great supporter of Firefly, volunteers had a full head shave, and a Snooker Match in progress with the loser having to pay out £50. Meanwhile behind the bar were Jane and Craig Bushell, along with staff keeping the liquid refreshments going in the club and then later in the Plough Inn. Names too many to mention are seen here presenting a final total raised during the day of £2,282.02. What a fantastic effort from everyone. Thankyou all, another example of ordinary people doing extraordinary things for your local charity.

The Doncaster 3 ...Samo, Kath and Mark, proudly show off their well deserved medals after running the London Marathon around the streets of Doncaster. The cheque shows £757.00 but actually by using "Gift Aid" the final total was £888.25. Once again a massive big thank you.

Auntie Libby, Mum Shannon and proud Grandad Dave Lakin present Firefly with 4 day old Arlo. Nothing like starting out young learning how to keep them lines tight. This annual event, held at Rossington Brick Ponds organised by the Lakin family has generated a massive £415. Plenty of tails of the one that got away but thankyou once again for all your support. Looking forward to next year.
Wallython 2021
Chewy and Paul would like to thank everyone that took part in the Wallython 2021, not forgetting the horses and Bilbo the staffy and all the Firefly drivers. A great achievement by everyone a massive 54 walkers which is our largest to date that completed the full and half marathon. A great effort was given by everyone with an early start of 0615hrs meeting up and then stepping off at Weston Park at 0800hrs and finishing at 1700hrs, a total of over 22 miles. On the route the generous public donated £360.66 into the buckets. Whilst back at the finish line we would like to thank all the store holders, the fair, DJ and bouncy castle that raised £1,231.92 between them. All the efforts that go on behind the scenes to make the day a great success is truly humbling. All the efforts by all the walkers is inspiring. A great day had by everyone and we cant thank you enough for your continued support to Firefly to keep the wheels turning.

Trans Pennine Trek raises £2500!
Chewy and Paul would like to thank 3 plucky lads who decided to walk the Trans Pennine Route in June. They started at Southport and finished at Hornsea.... a massive 215 miles. The lads went self contained each carrying their own bergans with overnight equipment, clothing and food. The challenge took seven (7) days !! amazing.
Danny Laverick ( pictured), Jak Laverick and Jamie Deere who unfortunately could not make the presentation due to work commitments all chose Firefly as they have had family members or friends that have used the service. Your staggering effort raised a huge £2,500.00 for Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support which will ensure the service can remain running to take patients for life saving treatment at Sheffield treatment Centres.

This Friday 27th August, The Foresters Arms are proud to host the BAGS IN DRAG, adults only, charity drag night, in aid of the firefly cancer awareness charity.
Organised by the lovely Helen Mahon and friends, the evening will be full of jokes, laughter, music and dancing. There will be a raffle and bingo on the night, with pie and peas available.

The open garden has been running for many years now and it still amazes me how great the garden always looks and the people that always attend, its always great to catch up.

Charity Boxing match Raises £2,255.58!
Chewy and Paul would like to thank the Doncaster Round Table for putting on a charity boxing night at the Dome in aid of Firefly... to date the night raised an amazing £2,255.58.
